2013 QRIS National Meeting
Moving from What? to Why? and How? The lessons of the past informing the next generation of QRIS
As you will see from our title, "Moving from What? to Why? and How? The Lessons of the Past Informing the Next Generation of QRIS," we have designed this meeting in a way that we hope will inform your work in developing, implementing and revising the next generation of quality rating and improvement systems (QRIS). We have also emphasized the approach of "applying research to practice" in developing the sessions. Many sessions include both researchers sharing the latest studies and promising practices and state leaders who will talk with you about what those studies mean in terms of actual practice in their states. Some sessions have been designed to help you think about what comes next and what the possibilities are in the next phase of QRIS. YOU are the leaders of this work and we want to hear what you think in these discussions as we all work together around the country to assure opportunities for high quality early care and education for all children. By leveraging our learning and sharing ideas we hope to deepen the engagement of a national learning community to move these important systems building efforts forward.
We particularly want to thank our contributors for making this meeting possible. We appreciate the generous funding from BUILD Initiative supporters, including the Alliance for Early Success and our corporate meeting sponsors: Branagh Information Group, CCA Global, Deloitte, Kaplan Early Learning Company, Mosaic, Pearson, Scholastic, Teachstone, and WELS Foundation. Thanks also to the wonderful partners who played an integral role in developing the sessions for this meeting, including the Office of Planning, Research and Evaluation (OPRE), INQUIRE, and the Office of Child Care's National Center on Child Care Quality Improvement and its National Center on Child Care Professional Development Systems and Workforce Initiatives.
